Lessons in Chinese

We are not sure why but Jordan really wants to speak Chinese, that is why when we told him that he will be learning chinese after Christmas, he can’t wait! Maybe because he is surrounded by many Chinese kids in the nursery that made him wants to speak that language too.
Or maybe it’s because he’s quite close with this one girl named Edna Yee, when we asked him who is his best friend, he will answer Edna Yee. Last year it was Chiang Chin (yeah he likes to date Chinese girl *heehee*).
Sometimes, when we eat at a chinese restaurant and he sees all those posters with chinese characters, he will pretend to read and saying something jibberish but chinesey. When we ask him what it meant, he will make up something like “Fish” or “Porridge”. Yeah do you know that the word fish is represented by almost 10 words in chinese?
Cuz Jordan was like “whong chong cha he shou woh shei wah ching chang”. Then we asked him to translate, he answered “fish!”. Ooookay.
The other night, while we were trying to sleep on our bed, with the lights switched off and Jordan in the middle, Jo and me got into talking about some stuff. Usually Jordan don’t mind if we were chatting. He would ended-up sleeping and we would quietly sneaked out of the room and watch tv.
But this time, suddenly Jordan said something in chinese, he was saying them gently but still interrupted our conversation. This is how it went.
Jo and me : ..yadda yoddo yadda..
Jordan : *smoothly menyampuk in chinese* che’ wong shang shi zee youu woh kan
Jo and me : …???…
Jo : Wah you speak chinese ah Jordan? What was that you said just now?
Jordan : I said “Mommy Daddy keep quiet! I want to sleep!!!!“
Jo and me burst into laughter! We’ve just got owned by our little child in a custom chinese language.
Aisey. Malu juga lah haha. So we quieted down and let our chinese-speaking english boy go to sleep.
This is a pic of Jordan and his mates during their concert last year!

you need not worry no more daddy & mommy j for i see the greatest potential in jordan to master the chinese language.
for an english boy, his chinese roots are slowly grounded with his growing interest in the language :o)
