2008 - The year full of hope and challenges!

Date Posted by Jeffrey on January 1, 2008

The year 2008 will bring big challenges to my family. Let me start by telling you what happened on Christmas morning.

My wife woke me up that morning, saying “Dear… Merry Christmas!“… but the sound of her voice, she sounded a little different, it was said with a happy, giggling tone. When I opened my eyes, there it was, dangling over my face. It was this -

home pregnancy test - the results!

Of course my first words were - “yikes! have you cleaned that??” - okay I’m kidding. I didn’t say that. Actually I asked the next stupid thing - “oh.. you’re pregnant la this?” (Yes - my brain needs 5 minutes to boot in the morning).

Yes ladies and gentlemen! My sperm has breached her eggs’ outer layer! Woohoo! :P Our family planning is still right on track. With us already settled in our new house, it was time to “fill” the extra rooms right?

So, this is our biggest challenge for the new year, preparing for our newest addition to the family. Of course, the biggest chunk of everything will be borne by my wife and looking from the way it has been since the last 2 weeks, this pregnancy is quite different from the time when she had Jordan in her tummy.

I think she had experienced 5-6 times of near-vomit experience already so far. FYI - she only threw up twice when she was pregnant the first time around - and both caused by my speeding and hard cornering with the car. Now many of her favourite food has fallen under the “nauseous” label. I don’t remember that happening the last time.

Anyway, Jo had already made an appoinment a month earlier with Dr Felice for fertility check on the 29th Dec. Of course now we went there to check on the baby. Ngam jugak hehe.

*Monitor on the left, with Dr Felice’s back-of-the-head shot while Jo is looking at the 2nd monitor placed in front of her. Look at the monitor - the black oval in the middle is the sac - baby can’t be seen. It’s only 2.6mm bah (The baby is 5 weeks old).

While we went back feeling blessed and happy, Jordan was a little bit disappointed as he thought the doctor will pull the baby out already. It took us quite some time to explain to him about the need for the baby to grow inside the tummy first hehe.

Anyway, for me and Jordan, we will have our mini challenges as well. Starting 7th Jan, I will be working with new team mates at a new place. For Jordan, he will be starting kindergarten on the 3rd of Jan.

But still…. the new baby is the one that we all are excited about… I just can’t wait to have another J in the family! I just hope and pray that the pregnancy will not be too hard on my wife - but I know she will be strong, just like the first one.

So anyone want to suggest any names? You know the rules, must start with J hehehe.
