Jordan’s Prayer

jordan praying at churchLast November, a day after Jordan’s nursery school concert, my wife was hit by food poisoning rather badly. She kept on vomitting, was very weak and dizzy.

So that night, when her condition was not getting any better, I brought her to the doctor. Jordan didn’t quite understand what was happening to his mommy, well I think he tried to grasp the situation but he would turn into panic mode whenever my wife threw up.

He would say “Mommy? Are you ok? Are you ok?“.

Then he would say to me “Daddy! Mommy vomit again oh“.

So while driving to the clinic, I kept quiet as I could see my wife kept her eyes closed while clutching her stomach, writhing silently in pain. So I didn’t want to bother her with mindless talk.

Jordan was beside her. It was quite dark, so I didn’t know what he was up to or where he was looking.

Suddenly, his little voice broke the silence - with his little hand on top of my wife’s tummy. This is what he said.

Jesus - please take away the monster that make my mommy’s tummy painful. Amen“.

Wah - our son prayed without being asked. From that moment on, my wife didn’t really feel the pain anymore as I could see she was filled with abundant love and happiness. Her tears flowed down her face as she hugged Jordan.

Thank you Jordan! Mommy love you so much! Jesus also loves you! You’re such a clever boy!

My wife then asked me “You heard that dear?”

With tears rolling down my cheeks as well, I said “Of course”. It’s good to know the bedtime prayers that we do together has made him confident of praying alone.

I bet Jesus listens to an innocent child’s prayer. Just like the hymn that says

He can turn the tide
And calm the angry sea
He alone decides
Who writes a symphony
He lights every star
That makes our darkness bright
He keeps watch all through
Each long and lonely night

He still finds a way
To hear a child’s first prayer

Saint or sinner calls
And always finds him there
Though it makes him sad
To see the way we live
He’ll always say - I forgive

That’s one of my favourite hymns.

Anyway, buli kah si Jordan jadi priest ni?

(Little info on the picture - Jordan kneeling after communion. No he didn’t get the bread, only blessing. Not sure what he was praying for during that time but he really took his time, I even managed to get this shot using my handphone.)

LOVE the pic of him kneeling & praying. it’s a great reminder that GOD wants us all to be like lil children in our faith & prayers. i’m very sure that whatever he has prayed for that day has been answered :D

I always have this picture in my mind that of all the requests that’s going upwards to God in a single day, the voices of the Little Ones catches His attention anytime. ;-)
