Blackout and Jesus

Date March 4, 2008

While on the bed, just before we go to sleep, we always ask Jordan to talk about his day. I guess it is always a good time, with no astro cartoon distracting him or flashing toys. Many of Jordan’s funny remarks also came out during this time.

Latest one was on Sunday night. He was telling us about Sunday school, which he has “qualified” to join this year now that he is 4 years old already. When Jocelyn asked what he’d learned that day, this was what he told us.

Jordan : My Sunday school teacher said Jesus is the light!

Mommy : Yes - that’s true. He’s the light of the world.

Jordan : Ya - so next time, when we have no current, Jesus become our light lah.

At this point, my wife and me were trying very hard not to burst out in laughter. I was up to the point where I had to cover my face with the blanket so as not to offend Jordan who was really serious about that statement. I laughed silently so hard, that tears came out. My wife was having a hard time to stop laughing too.

I’m not sure why both of us were “hit” so hard with that statement. Probably because of the almost-daily blackout at our house (kudos to the govt), that it has got into Jordan too.

Anyway, it’s true though, in time of darkness, we should look to Jesus as our light. During blackout though, probably we need to find a ‘glow in the dark’ Jesus figurine to stress Jordan’s point.
