Guilty Feeling
Posted by Jeffrey on June 6, 2008

Just like a regular kid, Jordan will be begging for us to buy him toys whenever we pass the toys section at the shopping mall. So before one of our trips, I “forced” Jordan to make a promise that he won’t be asking for toys, in return he can follow us to go to the mall.
If he can’t accept our offer, we will send him to my parents place (which is like a prison for him since there are no cartoon channels or internet there) - but of course those were just empty threats hehe.
So off to the mall we went and I kept repeating his promise to him about not buying any toys.
Inside the car, he saw the newspaper with some toys advertisement on it. I think it was a free gift for a coloring kit kah something like that.
Then while pointing to those toys, he asked me:
Daddy! These lah all the toys I cannot buy?
Wah pandai. I guess it was a sincere question from him but for me, suddenly I feel like a dictator or some sort. It sure made me feel a little bit guilty.
But not guilty enough as we didn’t buy him any toys though he was nearly crying for a RM40 LEGO set heehee.
