Big brother role

For months now, Jordan has also been anticipating the arrival of his younger sibling next month. We’ve also been telling him that soon he will be a big brother and he will have to take care of the baby too.
A few Sundays ago, he was full of laughter and joy as usual. Then at the breakfast table, with a serious face he asked us a question, it was a strange question. It went something like this (with the grammar fixed).
Jordan: Mommy, why was I born first?
Jo: ai? Why are you asking that Jordan?
Jordan: I don’t want to be the big brother. I want to be the little boy.
Jo: But you are still a little boy. You’re our little boy.
Jordan: But later we will have small baby?
Jo: It doesn’t matter. Being a big brother doesn’t mean you have to stop having fun and cannot playing games.
Jordan: oo.
So we kinda figured out that he thinks being a big brother means you can’t have fun anymore and he needs to be a big boy. After that question, my wife and I agreed that we shouldn’t emphasize too much on him being a “role model” for the younger one.
Now, we just remind him about all the fun things that we can do with a new baby in the house. Hopefully he will not be as nervous as his parents lah.
