Tainted baby milk formula - Malaysia is safe
Posted by Jeffrey on September 18, 2008
It’s just so sad to read about the tragic case of tainted milk formula in China. At the moment, 3 babies have died, 158 have kidney failure while 6,200 others have fallen sick. Imagine if you are at the hospital, with all those babies crying over the pain that they’re experiencing. adui.
Anyway, I was googling around to check if the formula milk in Malaysia is safe and I found the news on The Star. Here’s what our Health Minister Datuk Liow Tiong Lai has to say:
“Parents need not be worried about milk powder contaminated with melamine as is the case in China because Malaysia does not import baby formula milk from China,” he told reporters after meeting Kelantan MCA members here yesterday.
Phew that’s a relief. Jordan is still drinking Dugrow but Jewel is fully on “pure” mommy’s milk.
But still, the news sickens me. You want to know what was added to the formula? It was found out that they were added with melamine, a banned chemical. It is normally used in plastics, however they are using it to water-down the milk thus make it appear higher in protein.
Sheessh! Some people! Damn them.
