Kaamatan Getaway 2011

Date Posted by Jeffrey on June 7, 2011

Every year, the Kaamatan holidays are usually the time when we try to go somewhere for a family mini-vacation and since we have no idea where to go, we decided to give priority to the kids this time and since Jordan wants to play in the water, we went to Beringgis Beach Resort. We stayed at the Dinawan room which were on promotion at that time.

So their aqua playtime were fully maximised on three fronts – the beach, the pool and bath tub!

There were not that many guests when we were there, which was good as the place was all quiet and serene. We had our lunch at Cabana Cafe and Jordan met a new friend and also his namesake, another boy named Jordan from Sri Lanka. His parents are currently teaching in Brunei and they are on holidays in Sabah together with his little sister Rai.

When they first met, it was a funny scene. While eating, the other Jordan was playing ball all alone and his ball rolled to our small hut where we were having our lunch. Then our Jordan asked him what was his name, when he answered “Jordan”, our boy’s mouth was as wide as pacman’s mouth eating the ghosts and then he replied “My name is Jordan too!”, which now caused the other Jordan to open his mouth wide. Haha.

After lunch, we had our rest and later in the evening, we started our official ‘fun time’ by playing in the sands.

These city kids get to play like this like once in 2 years haha.

Then the other Jordan together with his sister came and joined in the fun. They decided to build their own River Jordan helped by their sisters.

In the evening, it was pooltime and the kids really enjoyed it.

At night, we ordered room service because Jordan saw the menu in the room and he was desperate in trying something new, which in this case was ordering room service.. *sigh*.. it was an extra RM2 added to the food prices. But probably it was the best as the only place for dinner was also the open-air Cabana Cafe, where we had our lunch. So we might get under numerous mosquito attacks if we dined there.

In the morning, breakfast was so-so, could’ve been better if there were more choice of food. There were nasi lemak, porridge, pastries, mee soup and a stand-by chef. Jordan had to make do with porridge and cereal. Jewel ate a little of everything.

Then had a stroll at the sunny beach.

Then was another round of playtime at the pool then last round in the bubbly bath tub. Sorry no pics in the bath tub :) )

It was goodbye Beringgis in the afternoon and the kids were truly tired;

Jordan started sneezing in the car, thus the hanky in his hand.

You know you achieved victory in giving the kids a good time when they can’t stay awake while seated. The only downside was by the time we reached home, we were really tired and we wanted to take a nap but the kids, especially Jewel, didn’t want to as she had already got her batter re-charged!
